Debby Blumer’s Family Endorses Dawn

April 24, 2008

Dear Friends,

As election season begins for the 6th Middlesex State Representative race, we as a family have spent a great deal of time thinking about Debby – her values, and what she might have done had she been alive in this last year and one half. In our own ways, each of us has tried to carry out her vision for what Framingham can be. One way to help her voice live on is to support a candidate who has similar beliefs, skills and passions. After much consideration, we have concluded that Dawn Harkness is such a candidate and we are eager to support her in the race for State Representative from the Sixth Middlesex District.

We believe Dawn has the potential to be an extraordinary state representative who will serve the people of Framingham well. Specifically, we think she brings the following leadership abilities:

Commitment: Dawn will bring her extensive energy into both the campaign and the position. Anyone who knows Dawn knows that she does her homework on any issue concerning Framingham, big or small. Her mastery of details will help her craft effective legislation and will allow her to be a valuable member of statewide coalitions. Her campaign will be a reflection of her values: a grassroots, inclusive campaign where she will go door to door to meet people and to listen to their concerns.

Activism: It is easy to know where Dawn stands on important issues because she is vocal and transparent even on the issues where it might be easier to be silent. She will speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, and will do so in a way that brings people together, not apart.

Leadership: Dawn sees the job of the State Representative as one that goes beyond lawmaking at the State House. She will stay involved with local issues that affect the entire community and will work with others to create solutions that help the town. She will not be just the representative for her district, but will be a leader working for the well being of Framingham.

Experience: Dawn knows the issues Framingham faces because she has been an active member of this community for many years. Her work at Town Meeting, and numerous other committees and organizations will allow her to ably represent Framingham on Day One of the job.

Sincerely,

The Blumer Family
